About the Founder                         Lakesha Young - Sanders, M.Ed

Born September 25, with an extraordinary level of intelligence that separated her from most of her peers and many of her older community members.

There was definitely a divine plan for supplying Lakesha with an awesome gift of quick wits because God knew that she was going to need it for the journey ahead.

Growing up in rural Mississippi, as a young child, Lakesha saw hard times that would still be considered terrible today.  Even though there were many financial challenges, much domestic violence, homelessness, and various levels of child abuse due to living with an alcoholic father for the first 13 years of her life, Lakeisha still developed a drive of determination towards something different than her current living conditions.

Lakesha made up her mind that she wanted a better life for herself in the future.  Watching a classic evening soap opera every week by the name of “Dallas” gave her a dream to go along with that drive.  She begin to dream of the big city lights and the tall buildings that were none existent to her present world of what seemed to be only despair, violence and desperation.

Despite many disappointments along the way, including having her first child at seventeen years of age, Lakeisha has still managed to achieve many accomplishments in the midst of it all.  She graduated high school with high honors; graduated college while supporting her daughter and working full-time.  Full-filled her childhood dream and moved to Dallas and worked as a Software Engineer at IBM.  She then moved on to another giant in the computer world, Sun Microsystems as Engineering Manager for the state of Mississippi.

As life has been for her so many times, it changed to more challenging moments that lead to a new baby, a divorce and unemployment. Although they sound like a recipe for a dead end; they were actually the remedy to the career highway of pure joy, purpose and fulfillment. With all of the lost, Lakesha was forced to make a decisions about what to do next with what she had left; her Bachelor's Degree in English from Jackson State University and two children.  Lakeisha decided to pursue her Masters Degree in Education and begin teaching at a local business technical school called, Virginia College of Jackson in 2002. After completing her Masters from Jackson State University, Jackson, MS,  she begin teaching on the secondary and junior college school levels in 2004.

Through all of her experiences, she now encourages others by promoting this slogan:  “Don’t let what you are going through determine where you are going to! If you believe it, you CAN achieve it.

Lakesha is currently residing in Houston, TX with her family (husband, Carnell; daughter Brittney and sons Bryan and Colin).  Not just a motivational speaker, she is a Reading Content Specialist for Fort Bend ISD in Sugarland, TX as well as an adjunct instructor at Houston Community College teaching Freshman Writing and Literature. She has published a journal, and is the sole proprietor for her educational consulting company.  With the sky as the limit, Lakeisha still dreams and lives to make them reality.
